B5 Consultancy, a sports consultancy that works with clubs and organisations across football, rugby, cricket and beyond, is humbled and excited to announce its first “signing” since the firm launched in June 2020.
Run by directors Fraser Franks, a former Newport County, Luton and Stevenage player, and media lawyer Matt Himsworth, B5 works within sport to help develop safe off-pitch behaviours. The company has a particular focus on social media and online behaviours.
Leigh brings to the company everything we need to help us to grow and improve. She has an infectious and positive personality, a steely determination and resilience, and a moral goodness and a desire to help, learn and improve.
In January 2021 she spoke defiantly and powerfully about the extreme trauma she suffered as a result of an iCloud hack both with Sky Sports and the Footballer’s Mindset Podcast and this month she spoke with Melissa Reddy on her Between the Lines podcast about the mental trauma and her recovery. She said that she wanted to help, both potential victims (who can better protect themselves) but also ordinary people who go through their day-to-day online activity not realising the harm that can be felt if we don’t adopt a “be kind” approach at all times.
We are looking forward to introducing Leigh to each and every one of our clients and having her share her experience and her inspiring recovery with athletes in women’s sport and men’s sport alike.
Leigh will continue to play for Crystal Palace alongside her work with B5 and she starts her work with us next month. We look forward to football games re-opening again for spectators, and Leigh regaining full fitness, so that we can get along to Hayes Lane to cheer her on.
Quotes
Leigh Nicol said: “Raising awareness, helping players in their off-field development and campaigning for issues that I believe in has become a core passion of mine. Joining up with Fraser and Matt, two people who share my principles, and to have the opportunity to work with their clients, is so exciting for me and I’m looking forward to spreading positivity and knowledge across the men’s and women’s games”
Matt Himsworth, director at B5 Consultancy, said: “We were introduced to Leigh by a mutual contact in football and, from the first moment Fraser and I spoke to her, we knew we wanted to bring her on board. She brings vibrancy, honesty, determination and the kind of infectious enthusiasm which will help our clients, and their players and staff, across all sports”
